PCG Global has closed a Pre-Series A financing round led by GenZero, the Temasek-founded investment platform focused on accelerating decarbonisation.
The Singapore-headquartered clean energy platform said the funding is its first external capital raise and will support project origination and execution across Southeast Asia, Oceania and the Middle East.
The company focuses on renewable energy infrastructure, including distributed solar, utility-scale power plants, behind-the-meter energy storage and smart energy management.
Funding to support regional clean energy expansion
PCG Global was founded in Singapore by the team behind PCG Power, a distributed energy operator in China.
The company said it draws on PCG Power’s experience across more than 2GW of investment, construction and operations. PCG Global also said it has approximately 1.8GW of projects currently in different stages of development.
The platform’s model covers the full project lifecycle, from financing and development through to operations, maintenance and carbon management.
“This round reflects institutional confidence in our ability to translate proven distributed energy capabilities into high-quality outcomes beyond China,” said Li Wenxuan, Chairman and CEO of PCG Power.
He said PCG Global plans to build renewable energy infrastructure across Southeast Asia, Oceania and the Middle East, where net-zero commitments and energy security are driving demand for clean power.
GenZero backs clean and resilient energy infrastructure
GenZero is a wholly owned Temasek platform that invests in climate solutions across nature-based solutions, technology-based solutions and carbon ecosystem enablers.
The investment in PCG Global reflects GenZero’s focus on companies and technologies that can support scalable decarbonisation.
“This investment reflects GenZero’s continued support of companies and solutions which can scale the development of clean energy globally,” said Kimberly Tan, Head of Investments at GenZero.
Tan said PCG’s team had demonstrated capabilities across fundraising, project development and operational execution, and was well positioned for markets with significant demand for clean and resilient energy infrastructure.
Clean energy demand in growth markets
The target regions for PCG Global’s expansion are seeing rising demand for clean energy from industrial users, governments and utilities.
In Southeast Asia and the Middle East, renewable energy growth is increasingly linked to energy security, industrial decarbonisation, corporate power procurement and grid resilience. Behind-the-meter storage and smart energy management can also help commercial and industrial customers manage demand, improve reliability and reduce exposure to volatile power costs.
PCG Global said its integrated offering includes solar generation, energy storage and smart energy management, with carbon asset management also included in its full-lifecycle approach.
More information about the financing is available from GenZero’s announcement.
