EV charging savings for taxi drivers are being expanded through a new partnership between Octopus Electroverse and Freenow by Lyft, giving tens of thousands of drivers across Europe access to reduced public charging costs.

In the UK, drivers using the Freenow mobility platform can unlock more than 40% annual savings on public charging when charging via Electroverse’s network — equivalent to approximately £1,100 per driver per year. The partnership spans 180 cities across the UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland and Greece.

How the Partnership Drives EV Charging Savings for Taxi Drivers

The collaboration allows Freenow drivers to link their accounts directly to Octopus Electroverse’s EV roaming platform, enabling immediate access to discounted charging rates across public networks. Fleet operators benefit further through two months of free subscription, alongside access to exclusive offers from major charging providers including Ionity, Osprey and Powerdot.

Octopus Electroverse is Europe’s largest (by far) public charging network, providing one-tap access to public chargers alongside features such as route planning, an integrated charge-point map, and in-car navigation via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The platform currently supports over one million drivers across Europe.

Supporting Broader EV Adoption and Fleet Electrification

The partnership arrives as electric vehicle adoption continues to rise across the UK and Europe, with professional drivers increasingly transitioning to electric vehicles. By lowering operational charging costs, taxi drivers and fleet operators face fewer financial barriers when moving away from internal combustion vehicles.

Octopus Electroverse’s technology and network scale underpin this accessibility, helping streamline public charging access and improve cost certainty for drivers operating across multiple cities and countries.
