Major new conference aims to help agribusinesses succeed

Written by Louise Davey

A major new national conference exploring how agricultural businesses can succeed amidst a challenging climate for UK farming will be staged in Leeds next week.

With the farm funding landscape facing seismic shifts and farmer confidence at an all-time low, the Agribusiness Growth Conference will explore how businesses linked to agriculture can continue to drive growth while still providing innovative solutions and systems to the sector.

The conference has been organised by East Yorkshire-based agricultural PR and marketing agency Red Stag Media and will feature a range of sessions with top business leaders alongside sales, marketing, PR and finance experts.

It will take place at The Royal Armouries in Leeds next week, on Thursday, October 19, and will be free to attend.

Managing Director of Red Stag Media, Nick Glaves, said: “Agribusinesses are fundamental to the success of the farming sector in the UK and, as a result, the nation’s food security.

“However, there aren’t really any events dedicated to agribusiness leaders where they can share insights and experiences and learn about new strategies for creating business growth.

“The Agribusiness Growth Conference changes that. We want this to become a regular feature on the agricultural calendar, creating something that will help hundreds of agribusinesses to thrive and grow and, most importantly, ensure that farmers around the UK can benefit from their innovative products and services.”

The full-day conference is expected to attract around 400 attendees and sessions will include: a farmers panel, ensuring business leaders can gear directly from their customers; a session on effective communications with farmers; lessons in growing sales and the latest digital marketing trends; a discussion around the funding landscape for agribusinesses; and a keynote address from one of the most successful agribusiness entrepreneurs.

Nick adds: “This event will help agribusiness leaders to take their companies to the next level. It will help them to understand their customers better and give them the tools to reach them more effectively and efficiently.

“Crucially, it will help to drive growth in a sector that is critical to the wider national economy and provide more much-needed support to our farmers.”

The Farmers Weekly is media partner at the conference and editor, Andrew Meredith, will be speaking in one of the sessions. He says: “Farming is going through a period of significant upheaval amid changes to farm policy and the rising expectation on our industry to play its part in tackling climate change.

“To remain successful, many farms will need to adapt and the same is true for the agribusinesses that support them. While many events are already in place to support farmers themselves, there is much less for the firms clustered around them and this conference is a much-needed correction to that. Farmers Weekly looks forward to supporting this event as media partner.”
