GeoPura has launched HPU Agile-H, a towable hydrogen power unit that delivers 80kW of continuous electricity as an alternative to diesel generators on temporary and off-grid sites. The company said it developed the unit in response to customer demand for smaller, more flexible clean power. It is available for sale across the UK, Europe and North America.
Unlike GeoPura’s larger units, which are supplied under its Energy-as-a-Service model, Agile-H is available to buy outright. Pre-orders are open now through the company’s Agile-H reservation page, with deliveries scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.

Fuel cell and battery design
The unit combines a Ballard hydrogen fuel cell with integrated battery storage. According to GeoPura, the battery responds instantly to changing demand, providing stable electricity for uses ranging from construction sites to live broadcasting.
Agile-H was designed by GeoPura and is manufactured by Siemens Energy. It can be towed by a suitable SUV or large panel van. The company said one technician can deploy it in under 20 minutes. Multiple units can work together to meet larger power requirements.
A smaller hydrogen power unit for lower loads
GeoPura said customers want smaller, mobile units for lower loads and shorter-term work. This demand sits alongside demand for multi-megawatt hydrogen power for data centres, grid augmentation and critical industrial operations. Agile-H is intended for short-term projects, remote locations and operations with limited access to the grid.
Target sectors include construction, events, film and TV, broadcasting, defence, emergency response and critical national infrastructure. The company listed the following applications:
- powering site compounds, welfare cabins, lighting and equipment
- supporting electric vehicle (EV) charging
- supplying event and broadcast infrastructure
- providing emergency power
Emissions, noise and fuel supply
The unit generates electricity without combustion. It produces no carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides or particulate emissions at the point of use. GeoPura said replacing diesel generators protects local air quality for workers, production crews, artists and audiences. It added that quiet operation makes the unit suitable for noise-sensitive locations.
GeoPura supplies green hydrogen to fuel its generators from its production facilities and its network of hydrogen storage and delivery assets. It also monitors and controls the units remotely, so customers get a package covering fuel supply, power generation and ongoing operational support. The unit also has built-in safety systems.
Andrew Cunningham, President of Ballard, said: “Hydrogen power needs to fit the way customers work. For some, that means supplying megawatts of electricity to a data centre. For others, it means getting power to a temporary site quickly, then moving it on when the job is done.”
He added: “HPU Agile-H gives customers that flexibility, with the reliability and responsiveness the job demands. It also removes diesel fumes and reduces noise, creating a better, safer working environment for those nearby.”
“We supply the hydrogen and provide the teams to deploy and support the units, making the transition straightforward. Together with Ballard, we can bring that approach to more customers and more markets,” Cunningham said.
Launch follows merger with Ballard
The launch follows GeoPura’s recent merger with Ballard. The merger brings together GeoPura’s hydrogen production, logistics and power delivery capabilities with Ballard’s fuel cell expertise and international reach. The announcement was made from Newcastle in the UK and Burnaby, Canada.
The company said Agile-H broadens the combined business’s range. It now supports customers with power requirements from 50kW to 50MW across the UK, Europe and North America.
