Octopus & Ming Yang Partner to Cut UK Wind Energy Costs

Octopus Energy and **Ming Yang Smart Energy**, a wind turbine manufacturer, have announced a partnership intended to lower the cost of wind energy in the UK. The agreement would see Octopus’s software paired with Ming Yang’s onshore and offshore turbines. It includes plans to develop up to **6 GW** of new clean energy projects using sites identified through Octopus’s “Winder” platform.

Under the collaboration, Octopus Energy Generation will explore integrating its control software with Ming Yang’s hardware, with high standards of data protection and cybersecurity. The deployment is planned in areas selected via Winder, which helps connect landowners and communities with wind energy potential.Since its launch in 2022, Winder has identified sites with the potential to power nearly **5 million homes**. Initially focused on onshore wind, the partnership may expand in future to include solar and battery storage solutions.
