EcoNavis Solutions has signed an agency agreement with Greece-based Franman to distribute its Eco Boss Cap technology across Greece, Cyprus, and to Greek-owned shipping interests worldwide. The agreement opens one of the world’s largest commercial fleets to the energy-saving device.

The Eco Boss Cap, which is retrofitted to a vessel’s propeller hub, is designed to improve propulsion efficiency by reducing hub vortex cavitation and optimising water flow. EcoNavis reports that the technology can cut fuel consumption and carbon emissions by between 3% and 5%, offering shipowners a way to reduce operating costs while contributing to decarbonisation targets.

Industry collaboration

The agreement follows discussions at the Hellenic Institute of Marine Technology, where EcoNavis presented research on the device’s performance gains. Dr Batuhan Aktas, Managing Director of EcoNavis Solutions, said the partnership reflected shared sustainability goals. “With Franman’s network and deep understanding of the Greek maritime sector, the company is the ideal partner to introduce the Eco Boss Cap to the region’s shipowners,” he commented.

Franman, founded in 1991, represents more than 200 international manufacturers and has equipped over 5,500 ships worldwide. Chief Executive Officer Costis Frangoulis said the partnership would enable shipowners to enhance efficiency while addressing environmental regulations: “The Eco Boss Cap offers a straightforward and effective way to improve fuel efficiency, cut emissions and save on operational costs.”

Expanding reach

The agreement includes potential to expand distribution into other European markets through Franman’s client network. Both companies said the collaboration is expected to accelerate deployment of the Eco Boss Cap in the region, helping shipowners meet decarbonisation goals without compromising operational performance.
