  • Octopus Electroverse says one million UK drivers have signed up to its EV charging platform.
  • The app and card provide access to more than 1.5 million public charge points across Europe.
  • Octopus says the platform also works across more than 200,000 public charge points in North America.
  • Electroverse offers Plunge Pricing, with discounted charging when renewable electricity is abundant.
  • Octopus said 84 Plunge Pricing sessions have run across the UK and France this year.
  • Octopus Fleet supports businesses managing public and home charging for electric vehicles.

Octopus Electroverse says one million UK drivers have now signed up to its electric vehicle charging platform, as public charging access becomes increasingly important to EV adoption.

The platform allows drivers to use one app and card across multiple public charging networks, reducing the need to manage separate accounts with different charge point operators.

Octopus said the milestone means the platform is now used by a number of UK drivers equivalent to around half of the fully electric cars on Britain’s roads.

The announcement follows a strong month for UK electric vehicle registrations. Industry data for June 2026 showed battery electric vehicles accounted for around 30% of new car registrations, or nearly one in three new cars.

One app for public charging across markets

Octopus Electroverse provides access to more than 1.5 million public charge points across Europe through a single app and charging card.

The company said the platform now unlocks around nine in 10 public chargers across Europe, including close to full coverage of Germany’s public charging network.

It also operates across North America, where Octopus said more than 200,000 public charge points are already available through the platform, with further expansion planned before the end of the year.

“Reaching one million drivers is an incredible milestone and shows just how far electric driving has come,” said Matt Davies, Founder and Director of Octopus Electroverse.

Davies said public charging had become simpler for drivers who previously needed multiple apps, cards and subscriptions to charge away from home.

“As more people switch to electric, our focus is making charging effortless and affordable,” he said.

Discounted charging when green power is plentiful

Electroverse is also using pricing to encourage charging when renewable electricity is abundant.

Through Plunge Pricing, drivers can access discounted public charging sessions when there is high renewable generation and lower demand.

Octopus said the approach helps use green electricity that might otherwise be wasted, while easing pressure on the grid and reducing charging costs for drivers.

The company said Electroverse has run 84 Plunge Pricing sessions across the UK and France this year, with discounts of up to 50% available during some sessions.

Fleet charging through one platform

The company is also targeting business users through Octopus Fleet, which launched in late 2025.

The service allows businesses to manage public charging and home charging for electric vans and company cars through one platform. Octopus said thousands of businesses have signed up since launch.

Fleet electrification is becoming a central part of the EV transition, particularly as businesses seek to control charging costs, reduce administration and give drivers access to public charging when travelling for work.

For consumers and fleets alike, charging access remains one of the most important factors in confidence around electric vehicle adoption. Platforms that aggregate charger networks can help reduce friction, but the wider transition will still depend on charger reliability, transparent pricing and continued infrastructure investment.
